'Ghostbusters 3' Hires 'Men In Black 3' Scribe For Rewrite

Apparently, when Dan Aykroyd says he wants to make a sequel to "Ghostbusters," he really means it. The project, which has languished it development hell for years, has hired a new writer, as a rumor indicated last week.

According to Variety, producers have brought on Etan Cohen, who most recently penned the script for "Men in Black 3," to rewrite the script originally by Gene Stupnitsky and Lee Eisenberg.

The project thus far has been a series of back and forths, largely between Aykroyd and the highly sought-after Bill Murray.

Last week, quotes from Aykroyd appeared online that indicated a new writer was being brought on.

"We've got a new writing staff working on it now," Aykroyd said. "It's got to be prefect. That's the whole thing. There's no point in doing it unless it's perfect. So that's what we're up to now."

For now, put "Ghostbuster 3" down as a cautious "We'll see." When a movie takes this long to come together, be wary.
