'Flight' Trailer: Denzel Washington Soars

If a trailer for the newest Quentin Tarantino flick isn't enough movie goodness to start your day, let's raise the ante a bit: the brand new trailer for "Flight," director Robert Zemeckis' first live-action film in over a decade, has landed. Barely.

Denzel Washington stars in the movie as Captain Whitaker, an airline pilot who finds himself behind the wheel when a plane filled with passengers is going down. Against all odds, Whitaker is able to avert fiery collision, saving everyone's lives in the process. He's heralded as a hero, naturally, but a subsequent investigation into the circumstances of the plane crash reveal troubling secrets about Whitaker'secrets that could put him behind bars for the rest of his life.

Zemeckis is the director of some of my all-time favorite films: "Who Framed Roger Rabbit," the "Back to the Future" trilogy, "Contact," the list goes on. Based on the trailer alone, his latest has shades of "Forest Gump" and "Cast Away" to it, which totally works for me. If nothing else, it's nice to see him breaking away from freaky performance capture animation, and Washington looks to be delivering a winning performance as always.

"Flight," which also stars Don Cheadle and John Goodman, crashes into theaters on November 2, 2012.
