With the recent news of "Metal Gear Solid" and Michael Fassbender's looking-like-it-will-happen take on "Assassin's Creed," we could be entering into a new era of video game adaptations. Now another piece of news is sure to get gamers pumped for big screen potential.
Variety is reporting that the "Mass Effect" adaptation, being produced by Legendary Entertainment has brought on a new writer to take a crack at scripting the sci-fi epic. Morgan Davis Foehl will write a second version, after Mark Protosevich, who wrote "Thor and "I Am Legend," made a first attempt.
While Foehl has never had a script produced, he has previously landed on the Black List, the highly regarded list of unproduced scripts. Foehl apparently has experience writing sci-fi, especially with an espionage twist.
For those unfamiliar with the series, "Mass Effect" is a massively popular franchise of sci-fi shooters. It tells the story of Commander Shepard, a military officer who must combat the Reapers, an ancient race of alien beings that bring a wave of destruction to the galaxy every 50 thousand years.
We'll have to wait a little while longer before we get any solid update on a potential "Mass Effect" film. For now, just keep your fingers crossed and hope that we may finally get a series of good video game adaptations. Yes, we're looking in your direction "Prince of Persia: Sands of Time."
