The past few weeks have been brimming with new details about a potential third "Bill and Ted" movie, thanks in part to Keanu Reeves doing a promotional tour for his new filmmaking documentary "Side by Side." The biggest update came last week, when "Galaxy Quest" director Dean Parisot signed on to potentially direct the follow-up to 1991's "Bogus Journey."
In Reeves' new interview with GQ, the actor discussed a plot point at the heart of the script, which he's a big fan of. With Bill S. Preston, Esq. and "Ted" Theodore Logan now in their middle-age, the pressure of fulfilling their musical destiny has set upon them. It's that force that drives the story for the third movie.

"One of the plot points is that these two people have been crushed by the responsibility of having to write the greatest song ever written and to change the world. And they haven't done it," Reeves told the magazine. "So everybody is kind of like: 'Where is the song?' The guys have just drifted off into esoterica and lost their rock."
Bill and Ted's desire to create the song destined to bring about world peace causes yet another journey through time. "And we go on this expedition, go into the future to find out if we wrote the song, and one future 'us' refuses to tell us, and another future 'us' blames us for their lives because we didn't write the song, so they're living this terrible life," he said. "In one version we're in jail; in another we're at some kind of highway motel and they hate us."
