"Cosmopolis" isn't exactly an obvious choice for Robert Pattinson, and the actor definitely isn't the first person you would expect to see lead a David Cronenberg movie, but something seemed to click.
When Pattinson sat down with MTV News' Josh Horowitz for a recent "MTV First," he explained that the role just sort of happened.
"It was total luck. It was like a gift to get the job," he said.
Becoming an actor was not necessarily the ultimate goal for Pattinson, who says he likes movies more than he enjoys acting. "I sort of fell into acting. It's not like I've been striving since I was a kid to get this'. I like the idea of being in movies that I like, contributing something."
But scoring a role like the lead in "Cosmopolis" hasn't given Pattinson any sense of security when it comes to acting.
"I think as soon as you feel validated, you're a bad actor," Pattinson said. "You have to constantly feel that there's a 99 percent chance of failure. Total failure. Devastating failure. You should feel like every single job is the potential where you're never going to get another job again. Not in a bad way' you should feel good about it, because then you're in it. It's all about living in the present."
