Exclusive 'V/H/S' Artwork Is Appropriately Freaky
If the superhero genre could get an all-star movie like "The Avengers," it's only fair that horror get the same treatment. Thankfully, that's exactly what "V/H/S" is.
A team of the genre's most exciting up-and-coming directors teamed up for a six-part found footage anthology that scared the crap out of everyone at Sundance in January, and now "V/H/S" is available On Demand today (August 30).
To celebrate the premiere of "V/H/S," we have an exclusive image from artist James Stokoe that was inspired by the film.

'Wreck-It Ralph' Smashes Our Fall Movie Preview Week
"Wreck-It Ralph," if nothing else, is all about smashing through stereotypes. John C. Reilly provides the voice of the titular Ralph, a video game villain who is sick of his bad guy label and sets out to show a different side of himself by invading other realms of the gaming universe.
One such realm is Sugar Rush, a racing game populated by, among others, Vanellope von Schweetz, a nine year-old girl voiced by comedian Sarah Silverman. "All she wants to do is race," Silverman told MTV News about her character, "but they won't let her, because she's a glitch."
Check out an exclusive "Wreck-It Ralph" photo!
It's Vanellope's very nature as a glitch that attracted Silverman to the animated comedy, presenting universal themes that even the least video game savvy viewer can latch onto.
"I found it to be kind of beautiful and I connect to it, whether it's real or not," she said. "You realize that Ralph is the same way. He wants to have love. He doesn't want to be the bad guy. I think we share that. We clash at first but we realize we have family in each other, and we realize that your biggest downfall or your glitch can sometimes be your superpower. It's beautiful!"
From "Perks" to "Breaking Dawn," "The Hobbit" to "Skyfall," the MTV Movies team is delving into the hottest upcoming flicks in our 2012 Fall Movie Preview. Check back daily for exclusive clips, photos and interviews with the films' biggest stars.

Eddie Murphy Shopping 'Beverly Hills Cop' TV Show To Networks
If Eddie Murphy has his way about it, we will soon be seeing a "Beverly Hills Cop" TV show.
This isn't the first we've heard about the planned TV show, but it is the first time the series has seemed like it could actually become a reality. Vulture has learned that Murphy has teamed up with "The Shield" creator Shawn Ryan to develop the "Beverly Hills Cop" series pitch, and that the duo have partnered with Sony Pictures Television to adapt the story to the small screen. Murphy would act as executive producer and also play an on-camera role. That team started pitching the "hour-long crime procedural" to broadcast networks yesterday.
"Beverly Hill Cops" is a franchise that's very important to Murphy, so it's no surprise that he's trying to resurrect it in a way that stays faithful to the overall story. Read on to find out some details about the show's planned plot.
Murphy teased in an interview with Rolling Stone last year that a "Beverly Hills Cop" series could follow the adventures of Axel Foley's son.
"What I'm trying to do now is produce a TV show starring Axel Foley's son, and Axel is the chief of police now in Detroit," he said. "I'd do the pilot, show up here and there. None of the movie scripts were right; it was trying to force the premise. If you have to force something, you shouldn't be doing it. It was always a rehash of the old thing. It was always wrong."
No word if that has changed now, but we do know that the plan is to have it be a "buddy cop show."

Ira Glass And Mike Birbiglia Get 'Up Close' With MTV's After Hours
No topics were off limits in this in-depth interview, from Horowitz's dirty glasses to spelling Birbiglia's last name to just how easy it is to learn to drive. Glass and Birbiglia also spent some boring time discussing their new movie, which had a record-breaking opening weekend last week. But hey, we can talk about that any time. This is the time to get up close.
We also really appreciate the many ways Birbiglia has taught us how to use a camera during this segment. You can use it to help you tie your tie, block it with your body to let your friend know he's being boring or, best yet, use it to perfect your suggestive glances. No wonder it took so long to make "Sleepwalk With Me." (Just kidding!)
"Sleepwalk With Me" expands to 20 theaters this weekend, so make sure you go check it out.

Michael Fassbender Considering Natalie Portman Western 'Jane Got A Gun'
It seems as though Natalie Portman might have found her ex-lover in the upcoming Lynne Ramsay Western "Jane Got A Gun."
And what better man to play him than Michael Fassbender, who is one of Hollywood's hottest talents this year thanks to a leading role in "Prometheus" and the upcoming projects "Twelve Years a Slave," "The Counselor" and "X-Men: Days of Future Past." Vulture's sources are telling them that Fassbender is in negotiations for the role of the titular Jane's ex-lover in the flick. That character is one of "Jane Got A Gun's" two male leads.
Portman's involvement in the film was first announced back in May. At the time, we learned that the movie follows Jane after her outlaw husband returns to their home "barely alive and riddled with bullet wounds." She then is forced to turn to her ex and ask for his assistance in defending her home from her husband's gang, who are looking to finish off their former member. We can only assume that there's going to be some sexual tension present between Jane and her ex when they do team up with one another.
This is some pretty exciting news for fans of Ramsay. Her last project, "We Need To Talk About Kevin," was one of the most troubling but moving films I've personally seen in a long time. The idea of her taking the strengths of that film and bringing them over to a Western is pretty exciting, especially if Portman and Fassbender are going to be starring in it.

Shia LaBeouf And Jessica Chastain Aren't Familiar With 'Demolition Man'
There are many things to learn from the latest edition of "The Yes/No Show," this time starring Jessica Chastain and Shia LaBeouf from "Lawless." For instance, did you know that "Demolition Man" is an essential film for LaBeouf.
Wait. Did we say "Demolition Man"? We meant "The Lawnmower Man."
Also, let's all just pretend not to be emotionally crushed because Shia LaBeouf doesn't call his penis Optimus Prime.
"Lawless" opens in theaters on August 29.

'Prometheus' Behind-The-Scene Stills Show Different Take On Fifield Monster
One of the most endearing aspects of "Prometheus" was how lo-fi some of the creature effects were. The Engineers, the zombie-fied Fifield and that little surprise at the end had the look of some classic "Alien" creatures that made us a twinge nostalgic.
But new stills featured in Cinefex magazine (via Blood Disgusting) show an unused version of the Fifield monster post-mask melting, a digital one created by Weta Digital.
The images have wound up online and give us a look at a version of that monster that might have been.
Check out the full photos after the jump!
Though the creature played by Rafe Spall ended up being made largely of practical effects, Ridley Scott filmed two versions of the scene, one featuring Spall acting with the prosthetic and one where the digital character could be added. Here's the full description from Cinefex.

'Frankie Go Boom' Drags Out A New Ron Perlman
When the clock ticks down on "3, 2, 1' Frankie Go Boom" this fall, actor Ron Perlman will show off his more feminine side ' quite literally, in fact.
Perlman appears opposite fellow "Sons of Anarchy" star Charlie Hunnam in director Jordan Roberts' comedy as Phyllis, an ex-con computer hacker who went by the name Phil before undergoing a sex change. And it's not just surface details that changed when Phil became Phyllis, either ' to hear Perlman tell it, it's the whole shebang.
"Phil is now really, truly Phyllis," Perlman told MTV News in an interview for our Fall Movie Preview week. "She's true transgender, had the operation, all of the plumbing has been rearranged. You do the math."
Perlman's already done the math, it seems. The actor was originally offered a different role in "Frankie," which sees Hunnam's titular lead on a misadventure fueled by his horrible brother Bruce ("Bridesmaids" comedian Chris O'Dowd), Phyllis' old cellmate back when she was still Phil. But Perlman quickly knew that he was meant to play the film's transgender centerpiece, if only for one key reason.
"There was something about the idea, the notion of Charlie Hunnam, who plays the other badass biker on 'Sons of Anarchy,' opening the door and seeing Ron Perlman, who plays the president of that biker club on 'Sons of Anarchy,' as a chick," the actor said with a laugh. "I said to myself, 'Holy sh--, the sight gag alone is worth the price of admission. No matter what happens after that, I'm good.'"
"It was challenging, because there is nothing familiar in this new paradigm," Perlman said about working opposite Hunnam in the very different context of "Frankie." "The guy who plays the stepfather on the show is now [Charlie's] wicked stepmom. We were asked to do some things that were a little bit outside of the box, pardon the pun. It could have been very uncomfortable, but it also could have been [marked] by the two of us not being able to stop laughing ' which was more the case."
It also didn't hurt that Perlman, no stranger to weeks of heavy makeup through the "Hellboy" franchise, only had to appear as Phyllis for one day of shooting. "If there is anything distinguishing about me as an actor, it's how short my concentration span is," he said of the experience. "I can give you one day on a movie without breathing hard."
Watch an exclusive clip from "Frankie Go Boom" in the player below. The movie hits theaters on October 12, 2012.

Hugh Laurie Turns Down 'RoboCop' Villain Role
"RoboCop" has lost one of the biggest names from its roster.
News broke back in June that Hugh Laurie was in talks to play the main villain in "RoboCop," but assumptions that he had signed on board were premature. Variety's Jeff Sneider tweeted that Laurie is now officially out of the potential role.
"HUGH LAURIE definitely out of ROBOCOP reboot, not that he was ever 'in,'" he said.
That means that the part of Omni Corp's evil CEO is still up for grabs. We're sure that it won't take long for director Jose Padilha to fill that role, and he probably has a whole list of other big Hollywood actors interested in the part. "RoboCop" does have one of the most impressive casts that we've seen recently, after all. Currently signed on are Joel Kinnaman, Abbie Cornish, Gary Oldman, Samuel L. Jackson, Jay Baruchel, Jennifer Ehle, Jackie Earle Haley and Michael Kenneth Williams.
"RoboCop" follows a Detroit police officer named Alex Murphy who is killed while trying to fend off some local criminals. He is given a second lease on life by OmniCorp, and is resurrected as a mostly-robotic crime fighting machine. Kinnaman will play Murphy, Oldman will play the scientist who creates his alterego, Cornish is Murphy's wife (who was only seen in flashbacks in the original "RoboCop") and Jackson will play a charismatic media mogul. Meanwhile, Williams will play Murphy's partner and Ehle will play a character named "Liz Kline." "RoboCop" is slated for a summer 2013 release date.

New Zealand Tourism Draws 'Hobbit' Fans With '100% Middle-Earth' Campaign
New Zealand is a beautiful place. This is something we've known for years. But when Peter Jackson filmed his "Lord of the Rings" trilogy in his home country more than a decade ago, people started visiting New Zealand for a whole new reason.
We've always wished that Middle-Earth could be a real place, and Jackson's films seemed to make that wish become a reality. Now that Jackson is filming his new "The Hobbit" trilogy in New Zealand as well, it seems as though the country is embracing the fantasy world it has now become associated with.
New Zealand Tourism has released a new promotional video touting it's connection to "The Lord of the Rings" films. "100% Middle-Earth," the video claims. "100% Pure New Zealand."
We didn't need the connection to J.R.R. Tolkien's beloved novels to convince us that New Zealand is a place we want to visit. The imagery included in the video speaks for itself, though the country's seemingly relaxed lifestyle certainly is reminiscent of the one described in "The Hobbit" and "The Lord of the Rings." Ian Holm, the actor who played Bilbo Baggins in "The Lord of the Rings" films and has a role as "Old Bilbo" in the new "Hobbit" films, appropriately narrates the entire video.
"Traveller, your dreams are waiting," he promises. They certainly are, though we feel it might be cheaper for the time being to visit Middle-Earth via the big screen rather than in person. "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" is due in theaters on December 14. Special thanks to TheOneRing.net for bringing this great video to our attention.
Have you ever dreamed of visiting New Zealand because of its connection to Middle-Earth? Let us know in the comments section below or on Twitter!

Chuck Norris Won't Return In 'The Expendables 3'
"The Expendables 3" might be lining up a pretty impressive group of new actors to join the cast, but it turns out that not all of the big names from "The Expendables 2" are planning to return. In a new interview, Chuck Norris said that one "Expendables" film will be more than enough for him.
When speaking with Access Hollywood at "The Expendables 2" premiere, Norris admitted that he has no plans to return for future sequels.
"No, just number two. This is it for me," he said. "It was special just to be able to do the film with guys I've known for many, many years and get a chance to get together and fight with them. It was a lot of fun. Plus getting a chance to meet Terry [Crews], who I hadn't met before, and Jason Statham, who I hadn't met. It was fun just to do that."
At least Nicolas Cage is coming on board for number three, and there's the possibility that Harrison Ford, Clint Eastwood, Mickey Rourke or Wesley Snipes join the film as well.
During producer Avi Lerner's interview with Total Film earlier this month, he claimed that "all the existing stars" will return for "The Expendables 3." It seems like it was Norris who wanted to sit this one out instead of the filmmakers not having a place for him, and we can't fault the action star for that. After all, there are many other actors who could take his place.
Are you disappointed Norris won't be back for "The Expendables 3"? Tell us in the comments section below or on Twitter!

How A Musical Number Prepared Joseph Gordon-Levitt For 'Premium Rush'
Joseph Gordon-Levitt has had more than a few physical roles in his career as an actor. But flying around rotating hallways and running down the streets of Gotham are nothing compared to the work he did on a fixed-gear bike for "Premium Rush."
When MTV News' Josh Horowitz spoke with Gordon-Levitt and his director David Koepp, the actor filled us in on why such a physically demanding role was just what he needed when he accepted the part.
Back when "Premium Rush" was casting, Gordon-Levitt was just coming off of another movie that forced him to the opposite end of the spectrum physically.
"The first time I read the script for 'Premium Rush,' I was right in the middle of shooting '50/50,' where I was playing this guy battling cancer, whose body was giving up on him," he said. "So to play a guy who was really confident and healthy with his body and the idea of going to New York City and riding every day and getting in shape really appealed to me."
Koepp became convinced that Gordon-Levitt was up to the task of riding a bike all day after a musical number he performed on live TV. "The thing I think that struck me the most when I was thinking of him for the part was [Gordon-Levitt] had hosted Saturday Night Live that time and did the Donald O'Connor number, which was so incredible, and you could tell that it was just beating the sh-- out him, but because it's a musical number, he has to smile," he said. "You're chipper, but you're bouncing off stuff, and those ribs had to hurt. I had a feeling that physicality would not be a problem."

Refusing to accept that her husband (Burrell) wants to step down after his 15-year run as the 'Iowa State Butter Carving Champion,' and therefore end the Pickler family's reign in the spotlight, Laura takes a stab at the title herself. Enlisting the help of her high school sweetheart, Boyd (Jackman), Laura will stop at nothing to be crowned champion, even if it means resorting to sabotage. First Official Look At 'Carrie' Remake In Horror Bites!
"Entertainment Weekly" has posted two bloody photos from Kimberly Peirce's "Carrie." The film is inspired by Brian De Palma's 1976 movie, and is more faithful to the chilling Stephen King novel. Chloë Grace Moretz plays bullied high school student Carrie, who uses her telekinetic powers to retaliate against her nasty classmates. Julianne Moore is her mother, Margaret White ' a religious woman whose sense of humanity and affection for her daughter turns vicious and violent. Moretz spoke to the magazine about the famous scene at the prom where a bucket of pig's blood is dumped on her head. "We only have, like, four chances to get it right, because that stuff stains your hair." Carrie unleashes mayhem in theaters on March 15.

Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell Approve of 'Evil Dead' Remake
We recently reported that Bruce Campbell gave a big thumbs up (or is that a chainsaw' ) to the remake of fan favorite "Evil Dead," calling it "fabulous." We were hoping for groovy, but beggars can't be choosers. He's a producing partner on the project, along with the famed Sam Raimi ' who directed the 1981 cult cabin in the woods tale ' and Rob Tapert (a producer on the original movie).
Just yesterday, Raimi added to the excitement of many when he told Total Film, "I've seen almost all the dailies, and they're really going for it. It's gonna be grisly and intense and nonstop. Definitely R [rated]. Maybe worse." While many appreciate the smart-mouthed humor, the relentless gore in the original movie really sealed the deal. It's a relief to know that new director Fede Alvarez ' who is working off a script that "Jennifer's Body" scribe Diablo Cody contributed to ' is going to deliver on the icky, red stuff.
With team Raimi and Campbell's stamp of approval, we're not too worried about the remake ' which finds a female version of Ash (played by Jane Levy) trying to recover from a drug addiction. She heads to a remote cabin with friends where they discover the Book of the Dead ' and we all know how that ends up. Even if it sounds familiar, Campbell promised audiences were still in for a unique treat. "This is going to be just as memorable as [the original] 'Evil Dead' without being the same movie," he told Digital Spy.
New 'Paranormal Activity 4' Photo May Answer, "What Happened to Hunter?"
Spoiler alert: In 2010's "Paranormal Activity 2," Kristi and Dan's infant son Hunter goes missing after possessed aunt Katie whisks him away into the supernatural abyss. A new image posted on the "Paranormal Activity 4" Facebook page features a grainy photo of a child, who may Hunter all grown up. Is he channeling the spirit of Damien for the new installment in the ghostly franchise? We're speculating of course, since details about the story directed by "Paranormal Activity 3" filmmakers Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman are being kept under wraps. As we get closer to October, expect to see more viral goodies coming your way. Don't forget to text "WantIt" to 21534 for an exclusive peek at the trailer and additional footage that is sure to make you pee your pants.
John Travolta to Become the Toxic Avenger? 'Wait, What?
And now for the most hilarious news of the week: John Travolta has been attached to star in the "Toxic Avenger" remake, according to Twitch. The idea of the "Pulp Fiction" actor playing a meek and bullied janitor, who transforms into a deformed creature with superhuman strength after landing in a vat of toxic waste, is so ridiculous it just might work. This isn't the first time that Travolta has dramatically changed his appearance. The man loves his prosthetics, as evidenced in films like "Battlefield Earth" and even "Hairspray." "Hot Tub Time Machine" director Steve Pink is set to helm the remake of the low budget classic, but the Travolta news is still just a rumor for now. Does this make Travolta even weirder, or does it make you like him even more?
New Stills and Poster for 'Solomon Kane' Promise Brutal Mercenary Action
Bloody Disgusting shared the new poster and several stills for "Deathwatch" director Michael J. Bassett's reboot of pulp mag character Solomon Kane (James Purefoy) in a self-titled film that hits theaters September 28 (VOD August 24). The 16th-century Puritan is tormented by his violent past and owes his soul to the devil, but tries to redeem himself by fighting evil. Max Von Sydow ("The Exorcist"), Pete Postlethwaite ("The Omen" remake), Rachel Hurd-Wood ("Perfume: The Story of a Murderer"), and Alice Krige ("Silent Hill") star with Purefoy. The stills promise a dark, atmospheric, sword-filled story. Will you spring for VOD, or wait for opening weekend? Check out a cool alternative poster for the film from Radius-TWC on website IGN.
'Last Exorcism' Sequel Centers on Ashley Bell's Nell (Who Will Get Extra Creepily Contorted)
Dread Central caught up with goremeister Eli Roth to chat about supernatural sequel, "Last Exorcism 2." The "Hostel" filmmaker is producing the follow-up, and when asked about actress Ashley Bell who is reprising her role as Nell ' the possessed young woman whose body contorted into all kinds of horrific and unimaginable positions in the 2010 movie ' Roth had this to say:
"'The Last Exorcism 2' is totally catered to her and her character; it is going to be an even more physically challenging role than the first film, but we knew she could handle it. She's fantastic, and I can't wait for people to see what happens with her in the sequel."
Bell is a gymnast with a yoga, dance, and martial arts background, and all of the strange positions she found herself for the first movie were 100% real and performed by her. We look forward to seeing how they put her through her paces this time around. Head to Dread for more from Roth.
"Clueless" Director's Vampire Flick Starring "Breaking Bad" Actress and Alicia Silverstone Coming Soon
Writer-Director Amy Heckerling is readying for the limited theatrical release of her twist on the traditional vampire tale, which debuts on November 2. "Clueless"'s Alicia Silverstone, "Breaking Bad"'s Krysten Ritter, "Princess Bride"'s Wallace Shawn, and "Aliens" icon Sigourney Weaver are just a few interesting faces that appear in the comedic romantic-fantasy movie. Silverstone and Ritter play a pair of undead, New York socialites that find love, jeopardizing their immortality. It basically sounds like "Clueless" (which Heckerling wrote and directed) and a bloodsucker storyline smashed together. If this isn't your kind of horror flick, you could always just watch Silverstone regurgitate her food and feed it to her baby out of her mouth. Some of us are still recovering from that.
"Videodrome" Remake in Talks with Director
Never one to miss an opportunity to take a celebrated cult film and butcher it into a large-scale action spectacle, Hollywood has decided it wants to tackle a retelling of David Cronenberg's "Videodrome." Deadline reported that commercial director Adam Berg is in talks to helm the story about the head of a television station who becomes transfixed with a sadistic and deadly TV series known as "Videodrome." Cue vagina stomachs, gooey VHS tapes, and James Woods making out with a pulsing television set. Universal apparently wants to modernize things, with the addition of nano-technology, and all the CG-heavy, sci-fi action you can expect from the studio. Ehren Kruger ("The Ring," "The Ring 2") wrote the updating of the 1983 movie. Remaking a Cronenberg film ' especially one of his early body horror masterpieces ' is no easy task. We're not thrilled with the news, but we're willing to see what the new flesh has in store just so we can say, "We told you so."

The Best Non-'Twilight' Movies Starring 'Twilight' Actors
Robert Pattinson didn't always lust for blood. Taylor Lautner only recently started removing his shirt all the time. Granted Kristen Stewart usually runs her fingers through her hair and bites her lip, but not always as Bella.
Believe it or not, the stars of "Twilight" do act in other movies. In fact, the most forward thinking Cullen, Ashley Greene has "The Apparition" out this week.
So in honor of the Ashley Greene movie that doesn't involve fangs, here are our favorite movies starring the cast of "Twilight."
"Adventureland"
Despite recent'ummm'parallels people have drawn between "Adventureland" and a few current events, this is a movie that examines relations of all kinds in a more adult way than any of the tabloids have. Jesse Eisenberg does his best Jesse Eisenberg opposite Kristen Stewart, doing her best Kristen Stewart, but the two young actors have genuine, albeit awkward, chemistry and portray the intelligent kind of characters that most mainstream comedies shy away from. Draw whatever parallels you like, but there is no denying that this is one of the more under-appreciated movies in years.
"Young Adult"
Esme made a flawless transfer from Forks, WA to Suburbia, MN in the most recent collaboration from the team behind "Juno," director Jason Reitman and writer Diablo Cody. In "Young Adult," Elizabeth Reaser plays the bane of Mavis Gary's existence, Buddy Slade's wife Beth. Esme's motherly instincts shine through, but Beth has more of an edge, playing drums in an all-mom band. The whole movie is a sad, hilarious look at the life of that one girl from high school, and how she may not learn the lesson we're all hoping she does.
"Can't Hardly Wait"
This one goes way, way back into the past, back to when Carlisle was in high school and went by the name Mike Dexter. "Can't Hardly Wait" became a minor phenomenon on video for a certain set of 90s children and launched the career of a lot of actors like Peter Facinelli and Jason Segel. In the movie, Facinelli plays bad guy, then good guy, then bad guy Mike, who thinks he's just doing the cool thing when he dumps his girlfriend Amanda, before he leaves for college.
"Thirteen"
The starring role may have belonged to Evan Rachel Wood, but the then-15 year-old, Nikki Reed, provided the story and co-wrote the screenplay with her future "Twilight" director Catherine Hardwicke. "Thirteen" tells the story of a young girl who comes of age in a bad way. Wood plays Tracy, a girl who discovers sex, drugs, and criminal activity, much to the chagrin of her mother, played by Holly Hunter. Reed helped out with a supporting role, as Tracy's bad-news best friend Evie.
"Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire"
We know that Robert Pattinson has made great strides to becoming a "serious" actor, but we're always going to have a sweet spot for the role that won him a place in the hearts of teenage girls years before Bella even moved to Forks. As Cedric Diggory, Pattinson played the tragic good guy that would ultimately position him for his transformation into Edward.

'Lincoln' Poster Proves Daniel Day-Lewis IS Honest Abe
As the summer movie season comes to a close, the big awards contenders have begun to ramp up their promotional campaigns. One of these films, Steven Spielberg's upcoming "Lincoln," has left many in awe at the striking resemblance between Daniel Day-Lewis and the president he's portraying.
The first official still confirmed just how uncanny Day-Lewis looks as Abraham Lincoln, and a new poster for the film, which is due out this November, matches, if not surpasses, those expectations.
Check out the full poster for "Lincoln" after the jump!
"Lincoln" will not take the typical approach to a biopic, but will instead focus on the final months of the president's life. You can read the official synopsis below.
'Lawless' Red Band Trailer: Tom Hardy Fills 'Er Up
"Lawless" may star big names like Tom Hardy, Guy Pearce, and Shia LaBeouf and look like a run-of-the-mill Hollywood period piece, but that assessment leaves out one big factor, director John Hillcoat.
If you aren't familiar with his work, Hillcoat likes things dark and bloody. (If you need further evidence, we would direct you to this NSFW clip from "The Proposition.")
The new red band trailer for "Lawless" shows off the more "Hillcoat-y" aspects of the movie, including a gruesome shot of a tarred and feathered bootlegger and one of Tom Hardy literally filling a man's mouth with gasoline.
Check out the trailer after the jump!
Kristen Bell And Dax Shepard Are Relieved They Actually Have Chemistry
If you're an actor and you're in a relationship with another actor, you better hope that the chemistry translates to the screen. Otherwise, things could get a little embarrassing.
Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard, real-fiances, definitely felt the pressure for their new movie, "Hit & Run," which casts them as two lovers on the lam. When MTV News sat down with the couple, they said they understood the challenge.
"It was kind of high-risk," Shepard said. "Because had we not had chemistry, that would have been rough for everyone."
But even if they hadn't clicked on screen, Bell reminded him that it wouldn't have been the first time. "I think plenty of people have watched movies with people without chemistry," she said.
"But when they are dating, it's rough," Shepard said. "When they are engaged, it's rougher."
Since things went so well the first time around, Shepard said that he wants to get a franchise of movies going with the two of them as stars.
"I'd like to be Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn and do four or five of these suckers together," Shepard said. "In fact, we should redo the boat movie, 'Overboard.' I'd be Jack, right?"
"I would have a shoe closet," Bell said. "This is perfect."
"Yes, look for 'Overboard' next fall in a marina near you," Shepard said.

'The Impossible' Trailer Brings Terrifying Tsunami To Life
We're just coming up for air and a fresh wad of tissues after checking out the first domestic and emotionally powerful new trailer for J.A. Bayona's latest film "The Impossible."
The film stars Ewan McGregor and Naomi Watts as parents who take their three boys on vacation to Southeast Asia in 2004. If that timing sends up any warning signs, it's for a good reason. This is the true story of that family's struggle to survive and then find each other after a tsunami hit their resort.
The U.S. trailer went online over at Apple yesterday, but you can check out an embed after the jump!
'Dark Tower' Falls At Warner Bros, 'Ted' Financiers Show Interest
Roland Deschain and producer Ron Howard have hit yet another bump on the road to "The Dark Tower."
The proposed multi-platform adaptation of Stephen King's saga has never suffered from a lack of ambition, but now it is in desperate need of funding. According to a Variety report, Warner Bros., the second studio to consider the project after Universal passed, has turned it down.
The sprawling epic would play out over three films and two intermediate seasons of television, most likely for HBO. After Universal passed, WB voiced budget concerns and one-time attached star Javier Bardem exited, there has not been much good news for "The Dark Tower," but hope may not be lost just yet.
Following up the news of the Warner Bros. pass on "The Dark Tower," Deadline reported that Media Rights Capital, the company that backed Seth MacFarlane's "Ted," is in "serious talks" to take on the project. It just so happens that MRC's Modi Wiczyk loves the King books. The company has taken on other ambitious projects recently, funding Neill Blomkamp's "Elysium."
If the MRC deal is a "serious" as Deadline says it is, "The Dark Tower" may still have some life left in it, but with so many hiccups and passes, an actual greenlight for the three films and two seasons of TV seem less and less likely. We much as we'd love to see this one go through, we're won't be holding our breath.
Is adapting "The Dark Tower" a good idea? Let us know what you think in the comments below and on Twitter!

Director Tony Scott Dies In An Apparent Suicide
FROM MTV NEWS
Tony Scott, brother of Ridley Scott and director of such action classics as "Top Gun" and "Crimson Tide," died yesterday (August 19) after an apparent suicide. Scott reportedly jumped from a suspension near San Pedro, California. He was 68 years-old.
The LAPD told Deadline that they received a 911 call at 12:35 p.m. about a man parking his car in an eastbound lane of the Vincent Thomas Bridge, scaling a fence, and leaping off the bridge "without hesitation."
It was also reported that Scott left a suicide note in his parked car.
Scott had been developing a "Top Gun" sequel with the original's star Tom Cruise and producer Jerry Bruckheimer.

Action Legends Still Pack Box Office Punch With 'Expendables 2'
FROM MTV NEWS
This past weekend, a bunch of action legends took on a newcomer, and experience won handedly. "The Expendables 2" took out last weekend's champion, "The Bourne Legacy," in a total knockout. The Sylvester Stallone-led action all-star meet-up took in $28.7 million, significantly below the original, which bowed with a $34.8 million debut back in 2010.
"The Bourne Legacy" continued to perform moderately well, adding $17 million to its two week total, which now sits at just under $70 million.
The rest of the weekend's new films were interspersed throughout the top ten, alternating with older releases. "ParaNorman" debuted in third with $14 million, and "Sparkle," Whitney Houston's final film, opened to $12 million, taking fifth place.
Head over to MTV News for our full box office report.

Robert Pattinson Welcomes The Risk Of Failure
"Cosmopolis" isn't exactly an obvious choice for Robert Pattinson, and the actor definitely isn't the first person you would expect to see lead a David Cronenberg movie, but something seemed to click.
When Pattinson sat down with MTV News' Josh Horowitz for a recent "MTV First," he explained that the role just sort of happened.
"It was total luck. It was like a gift to get the job," he said.
Becoming an actor was not necessarily the ultimate goal for Pattinson, who says he likes movies more than he enjoys acting. "I sort of fell into acting. It's not like I've been striving since I was a kid to get this'. I like the idea of being in movies that I like, contributing something."
But scoring a role like the lead in "Cosmopolis" hasn't given Pattinson any sense of security when it comes to acting.
"I think as soon as you feel validated, you're a bad actor," Pattinson said. "You have to constantly feel that there's a 99 percent chance of failure. Total failure. Devastating failure. You should feel like every single job is the potential where you're never going to get another job again. Not in a bad way' you should feel good about it, because then you're in it. It's all about living in the present."

Robert Pattinson Lines Up Interesting Future Projects
David Cronenberg's latest film, "Cosmopolis," is certainly a departure for Robert Pattinson, and the actor plans to continue that trend with his next few project, which include "The Rover" from "Animal Kingdom" director David Michôd, a modern combat film "Mission: Blacklist," and most recently, playing T.E. Lawrence in Werner Herzog's "Queen of the Desert."
When Pattinson sat down with MTV News' Josh Horowitz during "MTV First," he opened up about his future projects.
"It came out of nowhere," Pattinson said about Herzog's "Queen of the Desert." While he's taking up the mantle from Peter O'Toole, don't expect any direct comparisons. "I met [Herzog] ages ago, and then it suddenly came out. It's different; it's a really different Lawrence. It's a cool... I didn't really know that much."
Pattinson was largely unfamiliar with the story and even cinematic history of the iconic figure. "I hadn't even seen 'Lawrence of Arabia' when I met him," he said. "But literally, it was like one of those meetings... literally meeting him is exactly what you want meeting him to be. Suddenly, he has these stories about sucking snake venom."
Another upcoming project, "Mission: Blacklist," would take Pattinson into Iraq, where director Jean-Stéphane Sauvaire is currently scouting locations. "The director's there now," Pattinson said. "And I want to do it there. But, yeah, obviously it's quite difficult to shoot there, but I think it's a fascinating country. And the director's been sending me pictures of just the original, the actual palaces where the U.S. army was based and they're beautiful. They're stunning. They look like Kubrick sets and they're all just empty, just sitting there."
For now, it seems that "The Rover" with Guy Pearce will be next for Pattinson, followed by "Mission: Blacklist."

Franka Potente Says 'Copper' Is A Modern, Old-Timey Show
"Copper" might be the new BBC America show that takes place in the Five Points area of Manhattan in 1864, but if you ask star Franka Potente what she likes about the show, it's that it doesn't seem like a period drama.
Potente sat down with MTV News to talk about the upcoming premiere and what it was like to work in an elaborate set disguised at post-Civil War New York City.
At first, Potente was turned off by the concept of a period show, but the content of the show made it relatable and modern. "I guess I was always a little bit scared of period stuff. As an audience, if you see 1800s or something, it more often seems that the actors are carrying the weight of the time," she said. "It always has a Shakespearean tone to it. To me, that always feels very theatrical and very unrelatable. What I like about our show is that, yes, it is 1865, but it's very gritty and raw and kind of contemporary, if that makes any sense."
Part what made "Copper" so modern for Potente was her character, Eva, a local'let's say'business woman, who keeps the main character company. "My character, Eva, is the owner of a brothel. She's a pimp and a business woman," Potente said. "You could take her out of that time, and she would totally work today. It's very contemporary, so is the lead character Copper. He is a detective in that time, but he's going about it in the old ways, but he's also a very hunky, cute guy that gets into fights. I think that's what I liked. It is historic, but it doesn't feel historic."
A show set in 1864 does have its perks, however. For instance, you get to hang out on cool, old-timey sets for work. "It's pretty cool. I'm not going to lie. It kind of becomes normal after a while. You kind of just hoist the hoop skirt. There were three-legged dogs, and everyone looks dirty. All the sets were built in this humungous automobile factory, a little bit outside of Toronto, which you would never know what's inside if you just drove by," Potente said. "If I had a couple of days of and came back to work, it had completely grown. There would be more houses, and there would be a butcher. For example, my brother, expect for a running water bathroom or toilet, you could completely live in it. It had an upstairs, and it had light. The streets had cobble stone and dirt. Sometimes there would be pigs and dogs. It felt pretty real. For us, it makes our job super easy because we don't have to take care of acting certain things that we can't act. The period is there."

Robert Pattinson Didn't See 'Cosmopolis' Coming
Pattinson told MTV News during "MTV First: Robert Pattinson" that he knew the first sign of change was coming when Cronenberg told him that he wanted him for the part of Eric Packer. The "Twilight" star's at first couldn't grasp why he would be the actor chosen for such a challenging part.
"That was one of my first questions. 'What do you see in me? Why? Why? Why are you hiring me?'" Pattinson said. "Cronenberg is one of those people when you're asked who you want to work with, he doesn't even come into my head. Because that's like saying, 'Want to work with Orson Welles?'"
Still, Pattinson hasn't let his involvement with Cronenberg or the good "Cosmopolis" reviews go to his head. Instead, he's looking to keep himself challenged with a role in Werner Herzog's "Queen of the Desert" as Lawrence of Arabia.
"I think as soon as you feel validated, you're a bad actor," Pattinson said. "You have to constantly feel that there's a 99% chance of failure. Total failure. Devastating failure. You should feel like every single job is the potential which you're never going to get another again. Not in a bad way -- you should feel good about it, because then you're in it. It's all about living in the present."
That doesn't mean Pattinson isn't pleased with the good response, though.
"It's a relief not to get sh-- on. I've had a lot of sh-- on my end," he said with a laugh. "You get those first few reviews and it's [a sigh of relief]. And after then you start desperately seeking out the bad ones."
"Cosmopolis" opens in limited release today.

'Expendables 2,' 'ParaNorman,' And More: Double Feature Friday!
"The Expendables 2" & "Rambo: First Blood II," "Commando," and "Die Hard"
The new "Expendables" is too big to simply recommend one movie for a pairing. To prepare the right way, you're going to have to go back to the origin of the 80s action genre. The three icons at the center of this all-star have a number of great action movies to their names, but these three are the ones that made these men gods. An action marathon of epic proportions is the only way to do this team-up justice.
"ParaNorman" & "The Night of the Living Dead"
Critics are praising "ParaNorman" for its humor and reference for the zombie movies that it sends up. To prepare, go back to the original George A. Romero zombie movie, the one that started it all. The original "Night of the Living Dead" plays out much differently than you typical reanimated corpse movies of today. This is a quiet, unsettling horror movie that ends suddenly with a shocking, impactful social commentary.
"Sparkle" & "The Bodyguard"
During her lifetime, Whitney Houston starred in four feature films, the last of which, "Sparkles," comes out this week. Houston's first film, "The Bodyguard," is probably most notable for its hugely success soundtrack, but the movie itself is still a worthwhile trip back to where her acting career first started.

If one movie is never enough for you and you're looking for a flick to get you in the mood for this week's new release, Double Feature Friday is here to help. Every week we break down the new releases and pair them with older movies that you should catch before heading out to the theater. Or just skip the new movie and check out the classic we recommend.

Robert Pattinson Still Can't Comprehend The Popularity Of 'Twilight'
Even if Robert Pattinson is in the process of establishing the post-"Twilight" portion of his career, "Breaking Dawn ' Part 2" is still a few months away, and promoting the final film in the series will mean a lot of reminiscing from the star.
During "MTV First: Robert Pattison," the 26-year-old actor said that he has no problem getting all nostalgic about the series that made him a household name.
"It's an amazing experience," he said. "It's a huge chunk of my life, and the end of the movie, the last few scenes, kind of look back at the whole series. It's so sweet."
While he's willing to look back on the "Twilight Saga" happily, he's not quite as willing to go back. "I feel so much older now," he said. "The idea of if I had to do a sequel now, it would be like 'I'm not 17 anymore.' "
And even though it's been four years since it all began, Pattinson still can't figure out what it is that makes the series so popular. "I find it amazing, the intensity of people liking it. It's crazy," he said. "It's an elemental thing that it connected to, which I still don't understand. I hope people like it."

'Apparition' Set Visit With Ashley Greene Goes Behind The Scream
When the lead actress for an upcoming horror movie describes the villain as, "Basically, it's just this really evil, dark thing that kind of capitalizes on your worst nightmare, your worst fears," we'll probably take her word for it.
That's how Ashley Greene described the evil entity that haunts the characters of "The Apparition," during MTV's visit to the set.
"Basically, it's a young couple who is haunted by this supernatural presence from this experiment that has gone wrong years before," said Greene, explaining the story.
Read more of our interview with Ashley Greene and her co-star Sebastian Stan after the jump!
While there's obviously some evil force at the center of "The Apparition," Stan considers it primarily a love story. "I like to think of it as a story about love," he said. "No, I do! It's a relationship in a certain developmental stage of love. It's about two people, they care a lot about each other. Ultimately, the movie is about strange and unusual circumstances that test that love."
As the female lead in a horror movie, Greene is expected to deliver a shriek or two, but for her, there has to be more to the scream. "I'm not the ... horror movie-type girl," she said. "I think it has to have something behind it, and you're not just screaming to scream. Mine is kind of from the gut. It's a little different than the typical, 'Oooooh!' "

'Game Of Thrones' Casts Ciaran Hinds As Mance Rayder -- Finally!
"Game of Thrones" fans, meet your King-Beyond-the-Wall.
After a long and lengthy search process, showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have finally cast Irish actor Ciarán Hinds as Mance Rayder. Entertainment Weekly announced the casting, and we couldn't be more thrilled about the news. While we always pictured Mance to be a bit younger, the "Rome" star has the look and the acting prowess to pull off the complicated Night's Watch deserter-turned-Wildling leader.
Mance will be one of the most integral new characters in the coming seasons of "Game of Thrones," and his relationship with Jon Snow adds some new dimensions to the bastard Stark child. As a character who was previously only discussed with disdain for abandoning his post at the Night's Watch, Rayder has major roles in both "A Storm of Swords" (seasons three and likely four of the HBO show) and "A Dance with Dragons" (likely seasons six or seven).
When we caught up with author George R.R. Martin at Comic-Con, he admitted that the show's team was having a difficult time finding the perfect Mance.
"Well, we're still looking for Mance Rayder," Martin revealed. "They're still holding auditions, so if there are any British actors out there who want a terrific part, Mance Rayder! Contact our casting director -- we need one. As of a couple days ago, they hadn't cast that part yet. We're still auditioning and talking to people."
Martin then confirmed that Mance will appear within the first few episodes of season three.
For you "Rome" fans out there, here's a fun fact: "Game of Thrones" also cast Tobias Menzies as Catelyn Stark's younger brother, Edmure Tully. While Edmure's path never crosses with Mance's, we do get a kick out of the fact that both Brutus and Caesar have been united again.
The third season of "Game of Thrones" is set to debut on March 31.
Are you as excited about the casting of Hinds as we are? Let us know in the comments section below or on Twitter!

'Prometheus' Deleted Scene Titles Tease Possible Answers
When found out not that long ago that the Blu-ray and DVD for "Prometheus," due out sometime in October, would contain 30 minutes of deleted and extended scenes, it sent our minds racing as to what might be included.
Would we find out what's up with the skinny looking Engineer? Maybe we'd find out why Shaw and Vickers couldn't run perpendicular to the rolling space ship.
Anyway, the folks over at Bleeding Cool managed to uncover a list of the scenes included on the disc, plus their runtimes. To see the full list, click after the jump!
00:02:31:16(ARRIVAL OF THE ENGINEERS) (DELETED SCENE)
00:00:58:05(T'IS THE SEASON) (DELETED SCENE)

00:00:42:14(SKIN) (DELETED SCENE)
00:01:22:01(WE'RE NOT ALONE ANYMORE) (DELETED SCENE)
00:02:57:01(STRANGE BEDFELLOWS) (DELETED SCENE)
00:01:25:04(HOLLOWAY HUNGOVER) (DELETED SCENE)
00:00:23:12(DAVID'S OBJECTIVE) (DELETED SCENE)

00:05:30:04(FINAL BATTLE) (DELETED SCENE)
00:05:05:19(PARADISE) (DELETED SCENE)
From the sounds of the first deleted scene, we may get an explanation for the presence of the other Engineer on Earth that we saw in stills that appeared online. "A King Has His Reign" also references the talk Vickers had with her'father, so expect some more screen time from Guy Pearce.
Also, here's to hoping that "Janek Fills Vickers In" is a crafty bit of innuendo.

'Carrie' Looks Like Bloody Fun In Horror Bites!
Buckets of blood, swatches of blood, and' blood. Everything's as it should be on the set of "Carrie," according to some photos at Dread Central. A reader snapped some unofficial images full of the red stuff. While we can't see any of the gore in action, it's a great look at the way things are being developed behind the scenes for the 2013 remake of Stephen King's classic horror tale and Brian De Palma's 1976 film. "Carrie" is being directed by Kimberly Peirce ("Boys Don't Cry") and stars Chloë Moretz as the awkward teen covered in pig's blood at the prom. She uses her telekinetic powers to get revenge on those who tormented her. Yay, high school!
First Cut of 'World War Z' Featured Less Than an Hour of Footage
Oh, "World War Z." It wouldn't be a week without some kind of troubling news about your production. THR recently reported that the post-apocalyptic film based on the novel by Max Brooks and starring Brad Pitt didn't deliver on its first cut. The film has been moved to 2013, and here's a big reason why:
"On 'World War Z,' writer Damon Lindelof was brought in to do a third act, but after figuring out how much additional work was needed, he handed the project off to collaborator Drew Goddard. Sources say Paramount execs only had 52 minutes of continuous footage cut together to show them, along with a few minutes of other action. The film is said to be gearing up for a seven-week reshoot in London."
Will this movie ever see the light of day, and will we care when it finally does?
First Clip from Supernatural Tale 'The Possession'
There's nothing like a haunted box and a parasitic, malevolent spirit to bring a family closer together. "The Possession" sees a young girl become strangely obsessed with an antique box, which slowly starts to transform her. Eventually the family learns that the box contains a dibbuk, which is a restless spirit that inhabits its human host and devours them whole. We get a taste (sorry!) for how that works in this new clip from the film. Hungry for more? The film haunts theaters August 31.
New 'Lords of Salem' Poster Features Sheri Moon
With Rob Zombie's background in art, we expect everything he touches to boast killer visuals. Zombie's been channeling his inner Picasso with a "blue series" of posters for his upcoming witchfest, "The Lords of Salem." This new poster is the second one-sheet and features wife and "Lords" star Sheri Moon with a pagan makeover. Like Fangoria, we hope this means a trailer is heading our way soon so we can start to piece together the story about a 300-year-old coven of witches descending on the Massachusetts town.

"Mad Max: Fury Road" has been filming for more than a month, and now we're finally getting some official details about what the upcoming reboot will be about.

Series creator George Miller will direct the fourth film in the "Mad Max" series. In the principal photography announcement press release, Miller explained how "Mad Max: Fury Road" will follow the titular character's story.
"Mad Max is caught up with a group of people fleeing across the Wasteland in a War Rig driven by the Imperator Furiosa," Miller said. "This movie is an account of the Road War which follows. It is based on the Word Burgers of the History Men and eyewitness accounts of those who survived."
Tom Hardy stars as Mad Max while Charlize Theron is Imperator Furiosa. In addition, we've learned Nicholas Hoult plays Nux and Zoe Kravitz, Riley Keough and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley play the trio of women known as The Wives.
When MTV News caught up with Kravitz last year, she teased how The Wives fit into the film.
"There's a group of five women being taken from one place to another place, and I'm one of those women," she said. "So they call us the five wives. There are five women who are five wives. No, I'm not playing all five wives."

'Cosmopolis' Stars Summarize The Plot In 10 Seconds Or Less
"Cosmopolis" is not an easy film to describe. You can't really talk that much about the plot, because it's not really about the story. So how will the stars of the film describe "Cosmopolis" in 10 seconds or less?
Paul Giamatti pretty much rocked the challenge. Sarah Gadon took the easy way out going all thematic on us. David Cronenberg makes the movie sound much simpler than it actually is, but probably does the best of all of them.
You can hear from the leading man, Robert Pattinson, this Thursday during "MTV First." Pattinson will be on MTV starting at 7:49 p.m. ET to debut a never-before-seen clip from "Cosmopolis." Immediately afterward, he'll sit down with MTV News' Josh Horowitz for a 30-minute interview, where he'll answer some of your questions. All you'll have to do is tweet your questions to @MTVNews and using the hash-tag #AskRob.

Kristen Stewart Out Of 'Snow White And The Huntsman' Sequel?
Could the planned sequel for "Snow White and the Huntsman" have lost its Snow White?
If new reports are to be believed, that seems to be the case. Following the affair scandal between leading lady Kristen Stewart and director Rupert Sanders, it's been unclear how Universal Studios would move forward with the film's follow-up. The Hollywood Reporter is claiming that the answer is actually quite simple: the sequel will focus on The Huntsman instead of Snow White.
This is an idea that was first teased by Universal chief Ron Meyer to THR back in April. "Meyer said that while the upcoming Snow White and the Huntsman doesn't appear to lend itself to a sequel, Universal thinks it can do more movies based on the character of the Huntsman (Chris Hemsworth) if it is successful," the trade wrote.
It's unlikely that the studio said that in anticipation of last month's surprise outing of Stewart and Sanders, so it seems as though a "Huntsman" spin-off was in the cards all along. Hemsworth is certainly riding high now that "Thor" and "The Avengers" are such big successes, and by the time "Snow White and the Huntsman 2" starts filming he'll likely be done with "Thor: The Dark World" and a couple of years away from "The Avengers 2."
Of course, it's not even confirmed that Sanders is directing. Universal said that neither a writer nor a director have been picked for the sequel, though Sanders is still in contention for the role. "The studio is exploring options to continue the franchise and no decisions have been made," Universal told MTV News.
Meanwhile, Universal is telling The Los Angeles Times that Stewart's exclusion is not a done deal. "[Universal] insists that plans for a second movie centering on the Huntsman character played by Chris Hemsworth are proceeding and that Stewart's Snow White could still be a character in that film, despite reports that suggested otherwise," the newspaper insists.

'Raiders Of The Lost Ark' Coming To IMAX Screens Next Month
There are some movies that require a big screen viewing at least once. The first Indiana Jones movie, "Raiders of the Lost Ark," certainly falls within that category, but next month, you'll be able to catch it on a very big screen.
ScreenCrush confirmed yesterday that you'll be able to see an IMAX-sized boulder chasing Harrison Ford starting September 7. "Raiders of the Lost Ark" will get a weeklong re-release in the large format, timed for the debut of the series on Blu-ray.
Steven Spielberg personally oversaw the conversion to 70mm and assured the New York Times that he hasn't borrowed any tricks him his friend George Lucas. Nothing from the original film will be changed (i.e. no visual effects updates) besides from increasing the image size.
"It's the only marked contrast we have to the generations that are seeing our movies on phones and hand-held platforms," Spielberg told the Times. It's a complete relief to be able to see a film that many people have just experienced on a palm-sized platform technology, suddenly hurled at that them on an Imax-sized screen."
You'll be able to catch "Raiders of the Lost Ark" in 70mm IMAX starting September 7 through September 13. "Indiana Jones: The Complete Adventures" on Blu-ray hits shelves on September 18.

'The Expendables 3' Producer Wants Nic Cage, Clint Eastwood, Harrison Ford
Did you think you were excited about this Friday's release of "The Expendables 2"? Well just wait until you hear who plans to join the cast of "The Expendables 3."
In a conversation with Total Film, producer Avi Lerner let slip that Nicolas Cage is already on board for a role in the third "Expendables" movie. In addition, Lerner is in talks with Clint Eastwood and Harrison Ford about joining the film, is considering bringing Mickey Rourke back for more and plans to start discussions with Wesley Snipes about coming on board a future film once he is released from prison next summer. If even one of those prospective stars joins in addition to Cage, we're looking at some serious star power being added to number three. Our minds will melt if we try to imagine all four of them joining in addition to Cage.
Since we're on the topic of listing off every awesome action star who should join the crew of these films, we've decided to compile five other actors who deserve spots alongside Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis.
Dwayne Johnson
How has The Rock not been in "The Expendables" series already? He's certainly a big money grab, and also one of the biggest action stars to come out of the past two decades. Maybe they're saving him as a back up plan if interest in the series starts to go away (hey there, "Fast Five" and "G.I. Joe: Retaliation").
Kurt Russell
If we're looking back to find some of the best action stars of the '80s and '90s, we've got to turn to Kurt Russell. Not only did the man redefine cool in "Escape from New York," "The Thing" and "Tango & Cash," but he's also shown he's not afraid to have fun with his own legacy. Just look at Quentin Tarantino's "Death Proof" if you need more proof of that.
Mel Gibson
Sure, Mel Gibson is still working on repairing his image, but we think it's about time Hollywood moves past that enough for him to poke fun at his action hero roots. The man's in "Machete Kills," for goodness sake. And with a filmography including "Mad Max," "Lethal Weapon" and "Braveheart," Gibson has earned himself a spot among his peers in these movies.
Sigourney Weaver
Isn't it time a woman joined forces with "The Expendables"? If anyone defines female badassdom, it's Sigourney Weaver. Linda Hamilton was narrowly cut from the list, if only because it would be a bit too much of a "Terminator" reunion on "The Expendables 3" set. But between the "Alien" series, "Ghostbusters" and "Avatar," no one does a kick ass female lead quite like Weaver.
Tom Cruise
Of all the big '80s action stars, the one most notably lacking from "The Expendables" line-up is Tom Cruise. Now that he's got his groove back thanks to "Mission: Impossible -- Ghost Protocol," it seems like it's time he joins in on the fun the "Expendables" team is having. And besides, someone needs to be shorter than Stallone in real life.
Who else would you like to see join the cast of "The Expendables 3"? Tell us in the comments section below or on Twitter!

Keanu Reeves Reveals 'Bill And Ted 3' Plot Details
The past few weeks have been brimming with new details about a potential third "Bill and Ted" movie, thanks in part to Keanu Reeves doing a promotional tour for his new filmmaking documentary "Side by Side." The biggest update came last week, when "Galaxy Quest" director Dean Parisot signed on to potentially direct the follow-up to 1991's "Bogus Journey."
In Reeves' new interview with GQ, the actor discussed a plot point at the heart of the script, which he's a big fan of. With Bill S. Preston, Esq. and "Ted" Theodore Logan now in their middle-age, the pressure of fulfilling their musical destiny has set upon them. It's that force that drives the story for the third movie.

"One of the plot points is that these two people have been crushed by the responsibility of having to write the greatest song ever written and to change the world. And they haven't done it," Reeves told the magazine. "So everybody is kind of like: 'Where is the song?' The guys have just drifted off into esoterica and lost their rock."
Bill and Ted's desire to create the song destined to bring about world peace causes yet another journey through time. "And we go on this expedition, go into the future to find out if we wrote the song, and one future 'us' refuses to tell us, and another future 'us' blames us for their lives because we didn't write the song, so they're living this terrible life," he said. "In one version we're in jail; in another we're at some kind of highway motel and they hate us."

'RoboCop' Remake Script And Scene Details Stir Controversy
While the casting in Jose Padilha's upcoming "RoboCop" remake has us really excited, there are some other elements of the movie that are giving us a bit of pause. Now plot points from a recent draft of the script have been leaked, and -- if they're true -- we're hoping the project gets a major makeover before it hits big screens.
Drew McWeeny over at HitFix has been tweeting up a storm about the current script for the movie, which he managed to get his hands on. The screenplay, which was written by "Gran Torino's" Nick Schenk, seems aware of the first "RoboCop" and self-referential at least, but McWeeny claims that "satire," which the original movie was rife with, "seems low on [MGM and Sony's] list of priorities." Ouch. Spoilers after the jump.
Many of McWeeny's tweets, which have been kindly compiled by the folks over at ComicBookMovie.com, discuss the various incarnations of RoboCop that appear in the script. The first version of his suit looks like "a high-tech version of the '80s suit," but it's laughed out of the room in a focus group scene.
"He looks like a toy from the '80s!" one of the focus group members says.
The versions get "meaner" from there until the fourth version is ultimately a Transformer. "He goes from 'social mode' to 'combat mode' and back. Full transformation," McWeeny writes.
Despite his many complaints with the script, McWeeny says that once it "stops all the winky-winky crap and just starts telling a story, it's not terrible. But it's way too late.If you can get past Robocop The Transformer, there are some interesting action beats. And I'm sure Padilha will direct the hell out of it." Consider us skeptical for now. But it turns out that some of those action beats might be closer to the original film than we had originally realized.
Niagara Classic Transport is providing custom vehicles for the upcoming "RoboCop" remake and the company's president, David Mole, has told St. Catherines Standard (via CBM) that they've been commissioned to help "recreate a catastrophe that happened in the original story." It sounds a bit like Clarence Boddicker's brief reign of mayhem in Detroit City might be coming to the new "RoboCop" film, despite the fact we don't know who is playing a version of Boddicker's character.

'Rush' Images Put Chris Hemsworth In The Driver's Seat
At least for the next few years, Chris Hemsworth will be able to keep the longer locks that have come with his newfound status as an A-lister. Next year, the "Avengers" member takes a trip back to the 1970s for director Ron Howard and the Formula 1 racing drama, "Rush."
The first official images and a plot synopsis for the film, which also stars Olivia Wilde, have come online on the movie's official site.

Keanu Reeves Wants 'Man Of Tai Chi' To Be More Than Action
If you've been paying attention at all to what Keanu Reeves has been up to lately, you should know that he's prepping his directorial debut, "Man of Tai Chi." Now, usually when an actor makes his or her transition to directing, it's usually with a smaller indie film to work out the kinks.
That's not what Reeves is doing.
"Man of Tai Chi" is an ambitious, big-budget martial arts film, one that Reeves has been working out in his head for half a decade and one that will employ some state-of-the-art technology to take the audience into a fight like never before.
MTV News' Josh Horowitz spoke with Reeves at the premiere for his new filmmaking documentary, "Side by Side," to ask why he decided to go so big with his first effort.
For Reeves, choosing "Man of Tai Chi" as his first feature film came down to necessity. "It was the story I was hoping to tell," he said. "I had worked on the script for about five, six years, and it just eventually became in my head, and I had to tell the story."
But he needed to tell the story on his terms. Reeves is an unabashed fan of martial arts films, but he needed his film to be more than just a series of fight sequences. "My take on it was to not have action for action's sake and try to incorporate instead of action sequences' they were also story telling, not just plot but character development," he said. "It wasn't just evil versus good or angry and defending. It was a little more about the journey of this person and going through the martial arts of who they were and who they are."
As always with Reeves, there are lingering questions about the status of a third "Bill and Ted" movie. Last week, we learned that "Galaxy Quest" director Dean Parisot had joined the film, signaling some forward progress for the sequel. Reeves offered a brief updated and filled us in on the rehearsal sessions Alex Winter told us about earlier this year.
"We like the script. We're just going to see if we can get it made," Reeves said, adding that he and Winter had, in fact, gone back into versions of the characters for early rehearsals. "We've stayed really great friends, so it's always great to see him and with the writers, saying some of the dialogue, just to see how that would feel, and it was interesting."
