'Gangster Squad' Release Postponed After Aurora Shooting

Gangster Squad

Yesterday, we reported that "Gangster Squad" would look significantly different when it debuts in September due to reshoots and recutting that became necessary after the massacre in Aurora, Colorado, but now it's clear that the extra work has made the original release date impossible.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros has postponed the Josh Brolin-Sean Penn led crime drama until January to make room for the required reshoots and edits. The scene at the heart of the controversy, where a team of gunmen open fire in a movie theater, eerily reflected last week's tragedy.

The studio is currently considering January 11, which only has one other movie scheduled to debut, "Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters." The main concern for Warner Bros at this point is whether the cast will be available to do the reshoots and then do press for the film early next year.
